Your Pupil Leadership Team have been very busy since they were elected in August. We have been gathering ideas in our notebooks from all around the school and we are have decided what charities our school will support this year and the non-uniform days we will have.
Remember to speak to your Pupil Council Reps about ideas you have to improve and make a difference to our school. We have already listened to pupils' wish to have a whole school photograph taken and we have arranged for that to happen. You can keep up to date with what we are doing by reading our notice board and can contribute your thoughts to our ideas board.
House Captains
2023/24
Our school is divided into four Houses each named after a saint we admire-
St. Andrew House (Yellow)
St. John Ogilvie House (Blue)
St. Margaret House (Red)
St. Anne House (Green)
Each House has a House Captain and Vice-Captain who are elected by the whole school at the start of each school year. House Captains and Vice-Captains act as role models to other pupils, setting a good example with their behaviour and attitude to school. They are an important part of our school community and often act as ambassadors for our school.
Junior Road Safety Officers
2023/24
The aim of the J.R.S.O. scheme is to empower children to highlight road safety issues within their school. At St. John the Baptist school our Road Safety officers, assisted by Mrs Maitland and Mrs Lewis, maintain a road safety noticeboard, deliver presentations to classes and assemblies and run fun, road safety competitions with fabulous prizes in the school. Our whole school was delighted recently when were winners in the J.R.S.O. Scrapbook Competition.
Eco Committee
2024/25
Our Eco Committee and Mrs Summers work hard to find ways of making our school an environmentally friendly place of learning. This year we are focused on eliminating litter and learning about recycling.
The role of our newest Pupil Group is to increase opportunities and engagements in P.E. and school sports. The Sports Council is made up of one representative from each of our 12 classes and they are always available to hear suggestions on how to improve sports in the school.
Rights Made Real Committee
2023/24
Our Rights Made Real Committee have been working hard to ensure Children's Rights are embedded in our school. They have even worked through some lunchtimes to help everyone in the lunch hall with our new clearing station. Keep an eye on the website to keep up to date with the work of the Rights Made Real Committee.
Fairtrade Committee
2023/24
Our Fairtrade Group work to raise awareness of Fairtrade within our school. We believe that Fairtrade works to help farmers and workers to get a fair price for their goods.
We are a FairAchiever School and you can find us on the Fairtrade Schools map here.
We recently joined the Scottish Fairtrade Forum (see here) and look forward to their help and support.
We will be especially busy in Fairtrade Fortnight from 27th February - 12th March 2023. If you want to know more about this you can find information here.
