St John the Baptist Primary is a denominational school located in Uddingston. Everything that we do is underpinned by our school vision, 'Together We Shine'. We strive to create an environment where our young people learn to be successful, hardworking, excellent, nurtured and included. The children, staff and school community consistently model our values of honesty, trust, faith, friendship and respect.
Our school has 12 classrooms each with an interactive whiteboard, a nursery, two large open areas, a library area, a general purpose room, a large gym hall and separate dining area. Our playground consists of a generous tarmacadam area, a basketball court, a climbing wall, an outdoor classroom, a trim trail and a large astro turf pitch.
Our school is a happy, supportive place where your child will have a broad general education which will support them in developing their values and beliefs and enable them to achieve the highest possible levels of literacy and numeracy and at the same time develop skills for learning, life and work.
The school’s Additional Support for Learning Team, which includes the Area Specialist Support Teacher, works collaboratively with the class teacher to identify those children who require additional support and to ensure that their needs are effectively met whether they are very able or are experiencing difficulty in certain aspects of the curriculum. In cases where a child is experiencing learning difficulties the school will make every effort to establish, by various methods of assessment, the source of the child’s difficulty and arrange a suitable programme of work which will cater for the child’s particular needs. On certain occasions it may be necessary, after consultation with the child’s parents, to refer the child to Psychological Services, who will liaise with both the parents and the school, offering advice and support on an appropriate course of action. We acknowledge and support pupils who are very able and make every attempt to provide challenging and varied tasks to encourage pupils to reach their full potential.
